On 5 May 2025, the IORA Regional Centre for Science and Technology Transfer (RCSTT) actively participated in a specialized session of the IORA Working Group on Women’s Economic Empowerment (WGWEE). During the meeting, the Chief Coordinator of the RCSTT delivered a comprehensive presentation that introduced the Centre’s mission, current programmes, and potential areas for collaboration with the WGWEE.
The presentation highlighted the strategic importance of science, technology, and innovation (STI) in economically empowering women across the Indian Ocean Region. Key focus areas included supporting women entrepreneurs in technology-based businesses, promoting STI education and capacity-building for women and girls, and creating inclusive platforms for participation in research, innovation, and commercialization initiatives.
The IORA RCSTT reaffirmed its commitment to advancing gender-inclusive development and expressed eagerness for concrete joint actions with the WGWEE.
